Tri-State Home and Builders Show Habitat for Humanity
Dubuque Homebuilders & Associates, in partnership with the Dubuque-Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity, held a Blitz Build press conference and groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the lot of 814 Lincoln Avenue and will start construction on the Blitz Build Home on Monday, June 5. This house will be built in a week and is the first Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build by Dubuque Homebuilders & Associates in Dubuque and the ninth house built by the Dubuque-Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity. The partner family will be there during the blitz build to put in some of their 125 sweat equity hours and will continue to spend some of their other hours helping on future homes and with the chapter's general duties. Dubuque-Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity chooses homeowners based on their level of need, willingness to become partners in the program and ability to repay the no-interest loan. Their organization works in partnership with families to build simple affordable housing. A primary goal of Habitat is to build community and be a good neighbor. Dubuque Homebuilders & Associates are the primary builders for this home and are very proud to have elicited a huge response from members in the form of labor, material donations and discounts and monetary donations. Dubuque Homebuilders & Associates in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity is very proud and excited to build Dubuque's first ever Blitz Build Home.
